I got a call at 2am from my friend, Paula, who was frantic and crying. She said her neighbor, an older drunk man, was outside hitting and boot his dog in the middle of the yard. It was storming and she was crying and the police wouldn't practice anything considering it was after hours.
I told her to go get the dog and to phone call me dorsum every bit presently every bit she did. I said that I would come go her and the dog. I never heard dorsum from her then I went to sleep. Paula lives and hour from me and I called and chosen and got no reply. I couldn't terminate thinking about her.
Days later, she calls and tells me that the man was boozer once more. Paula said he had thrown a glass ashtray at the domestic dog's snout and that his sons were squeezing her until she would yelp. By and so, I was ready to hunt this man down but I said, "Paula, yous go go her. I will come up become her correct at present."
Paula said, "I will call y'all back in 10 minutes." To my surprise, she calls me back and said she grabbed the dog, and was begging me to please come get her before he kills her. I drove to her house equally fast as I could. When I got in that location, I was in shock by the size and status of the little dog.
She was skinny, scared, haemorrhage, and needed vet intendance as presently as possible. I have her domicile, feed her, bathe her and stayed upwardly with her until the next morning. And so I took her to the vet she had worms, fleas, and was malnourished. The poor pup'south snout was broken and she is having a false pregnancy but that would pass. He even did an ultrasound and their were no puppies.
I have her dwelling house and do everything he told me to do. A few weeks go past and she starts acting funny. I just watched her and call her into the bedroom. I thought perchance she had a breadbasket ache or is scared. She looks at me and cries out and inside 35 minutes there were 6 tiny puppies in the middle of my bed… I guess I'thousand a grandma now.
Long story short, we saved her and her puppies.

How Could Nosotros Say, "Keep Walking"?
My married man and I weren't looking for a dog. We already had a 5-year-old forty-pound terrier mix who we loved. She was so smart and wanted zero more than to make united states of america happy, which made training a breeze.
At the time, we were getting ready to move to a new dwelling house. While taking a break from our packing chores, friends of ours walked into the backyard with their sugariness piddling Lhasa Apso, Stanley. Nosotros set him loose with our daughter and they immediately started running and wrestling.
Our last dog was a Lhasa and we loved the brood. Knowing this, our friends appear, "We're on our mode to the pound with him. Yous desire him?" How could nosotros say, "keep walking"? They agreed to accept him fixed and, within a calendar week, nosotros had a second dog.
Well, our new niggling buddy hadn't learned much in his two years of life. He was housebroken, good with food and sweetness as could be just no "sit down," "stay," blah, blah. Didn't play with toys, but boy could he run. We spent weeks trying to "Stanley-proof" the m, but he merely squeezed through or dug nether whatever we came upwardly with.
1 mean solar day while at the beach, his ternion slipped from my hand and he took off. A car stopped to let us know there was a lilliputian tan dog with a long ternion running three miles away. That would be Stanley. When the little man had plenty, he turned effectually and ran dorsum 2.5 miles to us. He got loose on New Year'south Eve in a strange town and after a 5-hour search we found him at a party living information technology up with two new dog friends. There wasn't a mean solar day that our piddling goofball didn't make u.s.a. express joy.
He finally figured out toys and went nowhere without his blimp duck. It took erstwhile age to slow him down, and he was so proud of himself when nosotros permit him off leash (knowing we could catch him). Always 1 for an risk, we bought a domestic dog stroller, Stanley's chariot, then he didn't miss a thing.
Stanley left u.s.a. at 17 years of age. Information technology's been several years now, and we accept new furry friend, but we recollect of the little human being every day and laugh. God sends u.s.a. what nosotros need, fifty-fifty if we don't know it at the fourth dimension. Stanley showed u.s.a. that a good center can overcome a bad start.

Dixie Chick
I took my Dana to the dog park and noticed a young canis familiaris (pittie mix) hanging out at a truck end. I saw her a couple of times and said, "If you are nonetheless here the next time, I'chiliad getting you."
I retrieve the truckers had been feeding her, just no 1 took her. I bought a McDonald'south cheeseburger, and she hopped into the automobile. I was concerned because she did look a lot like a pit balderdash. My vet said she was a hound mix. She was good with the other dogs (I was fostering chihuahuas for a rescue). She was the sweetest girl, and I never regretted bringing her habitation. She was not chipped and had no collar.
At this fourth dimension, there was a lot of propaganda about pit bulls being dangerous, and if I had taken her to the shelter, she would have been put down. Then glad I didn't. She lived with the states for 10 or more than years and adult lung cancer. I was with her to the end.
